“fun, different and authentically Cajun” … that’s Prudhomme’s.

A review by The Town Traveler

Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen is fun, different and authentically Cajun to say the least. With a menu offering herb and season filled Cajun specialties such as gumbo, craw fish and alligator there is something for anyone looking for a taste of Cajun … right here in Columbia.

Blackening is a cooking technique that takes place in the kitchen of Prudhomme’s. This method of cooking was first introduced in 1972 by Chef Paul Prudhomme, uncle to Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen’s co-owner David Prudhomme. This technique produces flavorful meats and fish dishes that are seasoned with specialty blends and then browned.

For those that are less adventurous, Prudhomme’s also offers American favorites like wings, burgers, tacos and big salads.

The Town Traveler and a guest tried the sweet sticks appetizer. These were surprisingly good, resembling mozzarella sticks but filled with pureed sweet potato. The menu said that kids like them too, and I can understand why, sweet and delicious.

We also tried the gumbo which arrived as a heaping portion, spicy and full flavored with sausage and peppers. The Town Traveler and guest did not have room for dessert but were told that the key lime and the sweet potato pies they make are very good.

The atmosphere of the establishment is festive in the bar area with live music offered this particular evening and the dining room is tastefully decorated. With unique decorative touches of New Orleans and Louisiana with antiques, art, alligator items and beads it was like a mini vacation to the big easy right in Columbia.

The Town Traveler gives Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen a “thumbs up!”

If you are going to Prodhomme’s, the address is 50 Lancaster Avenue, Columbia, PA.
