  • World War II veteran and D-Day paratrooper Ray Wallace, of Columbia, gives a thumbs-up to spectators Saturday during the Mount Joy Memorial Day Parade. (Vinny Tennis/Sunday News)
  • Pipes and Drums” bands will be performing at area Memorial Day parades. On Sunday, the Susquehanna Pipes and Drums Band will be one of the parade units in the Columbia Memorial Day Memorial Service and Parade. The Columbia United Veterans Council is paying special tribute to the 28th Infantry Division, “America’s oldest Army Division during this year’s ceremonies. Another of the six bands in the parade is the Westminster Municipal Band. Columbia’s parade, according to the Borough of Columbia Website, starts at 2:30 pm.
  • On Monday, see the Kiltie Band of York in Marietta’s Parade. Marietta’s steps off at 11:00 am. According to the Turkey Hill Website, “Our Giant Cow will be participating in three Memorial Day parades the Marietta Memorial Day parade (Marietta, PA), the Mountville VFW Memorial Day parade (Mountville, PA) and the Kennett Square Memorial Day parade (Kennett Square, PA).”
  • Indiantown Gap National Cemetery is “among the nation’s 20 busiest national cemeteries.” Read more about this in the Lancaster Sunday News article.
