today’s news and information gleanings from here and there! Today’s Weather!   Today in History!

Quote for today… ““Truth has to be repeated constantly, because Error also is being preached all the time, and not just by a few, but by the multitude.  In the Press and Encyclopaedias, in Schools and Universities, everywhere Error holds sway, feeling happy and comfortable in the knowledge of having Majority on its side.” – Goethe

  • from the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era: “Heat grills holiday; more sweltering weather expected Tuesday” –
  • from the York Daily Record: “Central Market opened Monday – The Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center and York Revolution asked Central Market vendors to open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday as Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown came to York. Only about five stands opened and business was slow, said Ron Jacobs, who is an owner of J.R.’s Fresh Cut French Fries. He said a few friends and Facebook and Twitter followers stopped in for some fries and pulled pork. Megan Weller, a Chilly Dilly’s employee said even though she served cold treats, it was hard to stay cool behind the counter. Since it was so hot, she sold a handful of items that are rarely requested — extra large, or 32-ounce, milkshakes. Business was slow, but Weller said the different hours brought in some new customers.”
