- from the York Dispatch (yesterday): “Alligator spotted, captured in Pa. creek“
- from the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era: “In a Class AA semifinal at Millersville University, Annville-Cleona (16-5) battled to its first district championship game since 2006 with an 8-3 victory over Columbia. The Little Dutchmen took advantage of some early sloppy play on the part of Columbia, then opened up on Tide ace Emily Detz, eventually reaching her for 13 hits and eight runs, six earned.”Meanwhile, the Tide could not take advantage of A-C’s struggling Alyssa Montalvo, who labored through 141 pitches — 68 balls, and four wild pitches, and 73 strikes — in the scorching midday heat. Columbia got just one run each out of bases-loaded situations in the second and fourth innings. Montalvo, who walked seven and struck out six, got back-to-back strikeouts to evade major damage in the second and got a pair of force outs at home in the fourth to blunt the Tide rally.”‘We had plenty of opportunities (but) we just didn’t get it done,’ said Tide coach Ben May, who saw the most successful season in Columbia softball finish at 18-4.”
