  • The Merchandiser’s Krista Hurley has written an excellent article about Columbia’s celebration of Juneteenth, which will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18. “Juneteenth symbolizes the end of slavery; it has come to symbolize for many African-Americans what the fourth of July symbolizes for all Americans — Freedom. It serves as a historical milestone reminding Americans of the triumph of the human spirit over the cruelty of slavery. It honors those African-American ancestors who survived the inhumane institution of bondage, as well as demonstrating pride in the marvelous legacies of resistance and perseverance.”
  • from the York Daily Record: “No lane restrictions on Route 30 bridge tonight. – Crews have finished some repair work on the Route 30 bridge over the Susquehanna River so drivers will not see any lane restrictions tonight, according to the state Department of Transportation. The right eastbound lane had been closed for the past couple of nights so that crews could make repairs to bridge joints in that area.”
