Quote for today… “I think it is a lot more likely that we won’t get our checks than the public not getting theirs.” – Government Executive reader, predicting what will happen if there is no deal on the debt ceiling and the government defaults on its obligations.

- Former “bad act” resident piles on more time (Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era)
- Anniversary of the Battle of Bull Run Thursday – Columnist and historian, Jack Brubaker, writes in today’s Intelligencer Journal/New Era about the reenactment of the Civil War’s first major land battle on Thursday. If you have an interest in Civil War history, you will find his commentary interesting; you will also find a very good account of that battle at http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-archaeology/The-Battle-of-Bull-Run-The-End-of-Illusions.html.
- Where is the benefit in this action? Central Dauphin School Board passes tax-deferment plan for developer – It’s retail (duh, geez!); what’s to say the stores will be there in 15 years? Seems to us that having the developer to pay “fair share” of taxes as you go is the right thing to do. When you add retail site development, thee community ought to demand “road and impact improvements” up front. Seems to us this is another case of someone with money getting their own way … again.
