  • Cain Warfel completed Army Basic Training and Advanced Calvary Scout Training at Fort Bennning, Ga., with graduation ceremony on May 17. He will be stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and train with the 1st Calvary Division. A 2011 graduate of Columbia High School, he is the son of Chuck Warfel and Stephanie Smith of Columbia.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era

  • POLICE LOG:EAST DONEGAL TWP.: Richard R. Van Pelt, 23, of 259 W. Market St., Marietta, was charged with burglary and three counts of theft, Susquehanna Regional police said. Van Pelt on multiple occasions from May 2011 until May 2012 went to a farm in the 200 block of Stackstown Road and took various things including water tanks, wiring, pipes, tractor parts, a watering trough and other metals. He sold the items to scrap dealers for an estimated $1,800. – EAST DONEGAL TWP.: Ryan Hazel, 28, of 311 Wild Cherry Lane, Marietta, was charged with allowing his dog to run loose in his block June 5.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era
