Catherine’s medium of choice is fiber and her work embodies the quilt tradition of three layers stitched together. The fabrics all bear the mark of her own hand as she dyes and paints ordinary white fabric, and then further enhances them with various surface design processes including screen printing, stenciling and mono-printing. After wetting, to induce shrinking and enhancing the surface texture, Catherine often takes one more step to further emphasis her work with additional brush strokes.
