Quote for today… “I don’t like public debt and would prefer to have none at best or very little at worst.” –
Dennis Stuckey, County Commissioner, Lancaster County
- Ernie Ford sang it 57 years ago: – “Lancaster County Controller Keith Greiner said the county is likely to end the year more than $271 million in debt, an amount that could set yet another record. Officials are unanimous in saying that it can’t continue. Over the past dozen years, county debt has exploded. In 1999, it stood at a mere $45.7 million. The following year, it more than doubled; now it’s six times the 1999 figure. – Lancaster Sunday News
- Market House mix up. Sharon Prudhomme was slated to do a cooking demonstration at the Market House yesterday on the Market House’s first “official” Saturday opening. On this record-setting hot day, we were just one of less than a handful of folks who were there; Sharon was not. She apologized over-and-over for her “no show” status. Since the atheist’s intrusion, she has been swamped and overwhelmed by thousands of supportive emails and phone calls and media requests. Yesterday morning, she had a live interview with the folks at “Fox & Friends” in the WITF studios in Hershey. Unfortunately, the cooking demonstration slipped from her now very busy calendar. She sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience to those who came to the Market House and to the vendors who braved the incredible heat. There’ll be other Saturday Market House events during July. July 14, Meet the Mayor. July 21, Antique Appraisal Event. July 28, Cooking with Culinary Herbs.
