  • The Scribbler, Jack Brubaker, writes in his Lancaster New Era column, “Ron Mable reported in the June 29 column that Ronnie Smith, a 1966 graduate of Columbia High School, won seven statewide gold medals — the same number as McCaskey High School’s Barney Ewell. Mable has since learned that Smith won another medal before Mable became his coach. Smith also won the mile relay in 1964. So that gives Smith eight gold medals, one more than Ewell.”
  • Lindsay Hartman, the daughter of Kathleen Embleton and Robert Hartman of Columbia and a graduate of Columbia High School and Amy Moser, the daughter of Michael Moser and Georgiann Moser of Columbia and a graduate of Hempfield High School were named to the honors list for the spring semester at Franklin & Marshall College. – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era

Duke St. Classes are: “Resumes, Cover Letters, and Interviewing,” Friday, Aug. 17, 1 to 2 p.m.; “Basic Job Computer Skills,” Monday, Aug. 20, 2 to 3 p.m.; and “Online Job Searching,” Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2 to 3 p.m. Anyone attending these classes should know how to use a computer and to type.
