- Tide loses. 40-6! – “Adam Geiger rushed for five touchdowns to lead the way as Trinity hammered Columbia 40-6 Friday night in a non-league clash in Columbia. The Shamrocks (2-1) racked up 274 rushing yards in the blowout. Geiger’s TDs covered distances of 46, 2, 57, 4 and 1 yards. - POLICE LOG: EAST HEMPFIELD AND WEST HEMPFIELD TWPS.: Luis Rafael Cruz, 32, of York, was arrested Aug. 17 in connection with a York County bank robbery and later admitted involvement in a total of seven bank robberies in Pennsylvania, including two in Lancaster County. East Hempfield Township police recently charged Cruz with robbing the Metro Bank at 23 Rohrerstown Road on July 30. Cruz handed a teller a note demanding money, investigators said. He did not display a weapon. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he ran toward the nearby Lowe’s store and eluded capture, police said. West Hempfield Township police on Thursday charged Cruz with robbing the Union Community Bank at 10 S. 18th St., Columbia, on May 31. In that robbery, Cruz got an undisclosed amount of cash without showing a weapon and ran from the bank, according to police. Cruz also has admitted involvement in two additional bank robberies in York County, one in the Allentown area of Lehigh County and one in Reading in Berks County, police said. Cruz in August was committed to York County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail related to one of the York County robberies.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era
