The entrance to the Laurel Hill Cemetery looked different in 1906; this postcard (on sale at e-bay) shows the entrance to Laurel Hill then.
On a brilliant Sunday morning, the path to Laurel Hill is a cathedral-like canopy of serenity.
The view from the top is breathtaking.
During a recent council meeting there was some light discussion about the natural scape flora in the River Park’s “rain gardens” as one councilor asked whether anyone was attending to the unsightly weeds that were evident. Ensuing discussion revealed that, apparently, it’s difficult to differentiate rampant weeds from the natural scape flora. Could it be when the weeds or natural scape flora escape the intended planting area, it may be time to consider it a weed or at least a natural planting requiring some pruning?
Oh, yeah … notice the neatly sketched River Park with the developed parking spaces?
Was the guy in the car parked on the grass watching the hair-cutting session by the river? Is it legal to park on the grass when at least a dozen designated parking spaces were vacant?
Sunday cut and styling by the Susquehanna! Serious splendid thought!
Would it not be great if people would take their trash with them when they see the Park’s trash receptacles are filled? Na-a-h, it’s so much easier to over stuff the receptacles or just leave bags and other trash there rather than accept a little responsiblity.
