  • Homicide – Police have accused a Columbia couple of killing their 6-week-old son, who died after a series of severe beatings delivered over the course of one to two weeks, according to officials.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era
  • TOUR: June Evans, retired Millersville University archeology professor, will lead a walking tour of the iron furnace ruins between Marietta and Columbia on Sunday, Nov. 4. Participants should meet at the Breezy View Overlook of Chickies Rock Park, Route 441 north of Columbia, at 1 p.m. Although the terrain is relatively flat, sturdy shoes are a must for this three-hour trek, which is sponsored by Rivertownes PA USA.   • SLEEPOVER: The National Watch & Clock Museum will hold a “Night at the Museum” on Friday, Nov. 2. The sleepover is an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 to spend the night at the museum and enjoy activities, including decorating a clock to take home, munching on a snack and exploring the museum’s exhibits. Cost is $20 for children and $12 for adults, with payment due prior to the sleepover. The adult chaperone must be at least 21 and is required for every five children participating.   • POLICE LOG:MANOR TWP: Several Coach bags valued at more than $300 were stolen from a car at Woods Edge Plaza, South Centerville Road, on Oct. 17. Police ask anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to call 299-5231. – MANOR TWP.: Thieves between Oct. 9 and 14 took about $600 worth of various items, including cash, GPS units, perfume, debit cards and CDs, from several vehicles in the Georgetown Hills, Wilshire Hills and Holland Hills developments.- MANOR TWP.: Several pieces of jewelry worth about $3,000 were stolen in late September or early October from a home in the 1000 block of Stone Manor Drive. Police are investigating several people who had access to the house while the residents were away.
