  • Class A Football playoffs: “No. 4 Columbia (4-6) at No. 1 Delone Catholic (7-3): Dual-threat QB Brett Smith rides herd on a Wing-T offense averaging 350 yards per game. “They try to catch you sleeping,” Crimson Tide coach Mike Burke III said. “We’re going to have to be very disciplined.” RB Andrew Combs and WR Nick Nobile headline the Tide offense. Bryan Flory and Vanyel Peterson are among the key contributors for Columbia’s revamped defense. The Crimson Tide is 0-2 in the playoffs against the Squires, losing in the 1994 Class A semis and in overtime in the 2007 AA quarterfinals.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era
  • Columbia was beaten up a bit this year, but against an exclusively bigger cast of opponents. We’ll see if it can flip the switch now that it’s time to party with the Class A crew. Keys include big gains from RB Andrew Combs (28) and limited turnovers by the offense, which will fall on QB Kyle Warfel (16), who threw for nearly 1,300 yards but tossed 16 interceptions vs. seven touchdowns.” – PennLive.com
