100 years of Millersville Academy – Lancaster County Normal Institute at Millersville – Millersville State Normal School – Millersville State Teacher’s College

Here’s a bit of yesteryear for those of us who have attachments to Millersville University. And those who do not, but like a bit of history.

Recently, a friend passed along a copy of the 100th Anniversary celebration booklet, “One Hundred Years at The State Teachers College, Millersville, Pennsylvania. Given its age, it’s condition is quite good, though several of the pages are stuck together. Seems the ravages of time (on books) can include something spilled across the pages while reading it, perhaps.

What we do know is that this copy is one of 17,000 that were published in three editions in 1955.

Inside the front cover was this folded letter to Millersville’s alumni from – then – University President, Daniel. L. Biemesderfer. All Marauders who matriculated to Millersville have passed through Biemesderfer Hall!

Here are the front and back covers of the booklet; maybe we’ll find someone who can separate the brittle interior pages containing some interesting articles and photos. Among the personalities in the photos are authors James Michener and Cameron Hawley at the then College.
