  • Meanwhile in Carlisle … the town had a packed house as the town asked residents for redevelopment input.  While there is a viable Economic Development Corporation; the town did not just hand over the project. Instead, Carlisle advertised for a “selected consultant to develop scope of work that integrates land use, transportation, and economic development planning to create a comprehensive urban redevelopment strategy for the northern part of the Borough.” And the town used an assortment of media reach opportunities to get the word out. The town even started its own Carlisle Urban Redevelopment Plan Website (NOTE: Oh, yeah … that’s probably a free site! On January 18, 2013, this was included with a Columbia news, views & reviews article: Once upon a time, acquisition, hosting and maintenance of a Website was quite an expensive project. Advances in systems have significantly reduced those costs. In fact, thousands municipalities have useful, dynamic, updated; easy to manage and update Websites that cost about $100 a year. An excellent example is the WordPress Sites for Cities program.) What a concept? Caring for the community’s citizens. Communicating with citizens.   • Leaders’ list: Three members of Columbia High School basketball teams rank in the county’s “top 10” leaders list: Girls’ basketball – Jenna Plastino is ranked third in scoring with 17.6 points per game and eighth in free throws made with 60. Megan Seibert is ranked 10 in three-point shots made; she has 23.
