“The Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce (SVCC) will be assuming the role of coordinator for Fourth Friday programming in the Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville area beginning in March, 2013. Chrisandra Davis, former coordinator for this monthly event, relinquished the role ending with the December 2012 Fourth Friday event.
“Please understand that the former contact number and former website for Fourth Fridays are no longer valid. Please post 717-684-5249 as the new contact number at the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.
“SVCC is currently having some revisions made to their website (www.PaRivertowns.com) to accommodate a webpage dedicated to this venture; this feature is not yet operational. While the transitional period may offer a few bumps in the road, we are counting on the public’s understanding and support as we assume the responsibility of promoting this on-going monthly event.
“SVCC will act as a clearinghouse for information of planned exhibits, lectures, and other programs scheduled at participating venues. Part of our role will be to disseminate that information to the press. With input from our participants, SVCC also hopes to expand the offerings on Fourth Fridays and to raise awareness of the variety and quality of offerings available at the area’s art galleries, antique and specialty shops, and eateries. We look forward to playing a part in the continuation of the growing Fourth Friday programming.”
“Please note that Fourth Friday programming will occur in February. SVCC will take on a limited role during this month as part of the transition.”
Thank goodness. This action was long overdue. 4th Friday promotion has been a joke since mid-summer 2012 when Ms. Davis lost her physical presence in town with the loss of the Locust Street headquarters. The larger question should be asked as to where all of the monies donated went, since there has never been a document made public acknowledging 4th Fridays as a tax-exempt 501c3. I know this post will cause some backlash, but sometimes the truth hurts.
