  • Email from an out-of-town reader who pays sewer bills in two municipalities: Columbia and Mountville. So he pays sewer bills in two municipalities. The reader says his charges are: “Columbia sewer $8.18/1,000 gall – LASA.  $3.75/1,000 gall – Comes out to over double the rate” [Gee, maybe if “we had someone from Columbia on the Board of LASA,” we might consider going with the LASA proposal!]

heard it

  • “Heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from others at Hinkle’s. Seems this person overheard a conversation between two local elected “public servants” talking about a recent meeting of the school board during which the Board was considering applicants for the new district superintendent. Appears one board member kept making incessant pleas to install someone everyone knows. Seems this board member supported a local candidate with no real experience while the others held fast that some really qualified, skilled, experienced  and talented folks had to be considered. Not only do the walls have ears, but the booths at Hinkle’s may too.”
