  • A reader informs us that the Columbia Borough Schools will be closed tomorrow (Friday); the reader got a telephone call from the school system’s automated voice system.
  • 5:19 pm … Water update ... According to the Columbia Water Company release, “Columbia Water will be providing a water tanker to residents as needed. The water tankers will be stationed at the Columbia Shopping Plaza and the Columbia Shopping Center. You will need to bring your own containers to transport your water.” At this time there are no water tankers at either site. A source at Weis Markets told our source there would be water there by 8:00 p.m. WGAL’s reporting team was there, too.

  • LEGAL NOTICE published in the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era, March 14, 2013 – NOTICE OF MEETING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Monday, March 11, 2013 the Borough Council of the Borough of Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (the “Borough”) enacted an Ordinance, which, among other things, authorized the incurring of non-electoral debt in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $2,378,600 through the issuance of its General Obligation Note, Series of 2013 (the “Note”) and awarded the Note to Fulton Bank, N.A. (the “Bank”). A summary of the Ordinance was advertised on March 4,2013. The Note shall be purchased at a purchase price of not less than $2,378,600, and shall bear interest at a rate not in excess of 5.75% per annum. Insertions and amendments were made throughout the Ordinance, as follows: Section 5 of the Ordinance was amended to clearly reflect how interest shall be calculated. Section 8 of the Ordinance was amended to clarify the procedure for deposits in the sinking fund. Conforming changes were also made the form of Note on Exhibit A. Additionally, the reporting requirements reflected the form of Note were modified. No other amendments or insertions were made to the Ordinance on final enactment. A complete text of the Ordinance may be examined by any citizen of the Borough at the Borough Office, 308 Locust Street, Columbia, Pennsylvania, on regular business days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., prevailing time. The proceedings for the incurring of the debt referred to above will be filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (the “Department”), on or after March 18, 2013. Under the terms of the Pennsylvania Local Government Unit Debt Act, 53 Pa. Cons. Stat. § 8001 et seq, as amended, the time for filing any complaint with the Department asserting the invalidity of the proceedings or any part thereof, is limited and attention is direct to the specific requirements of the Act.
