- “Construction crews will return to the Route 30 Wrights Ferry Bridge on Monday evening, April 1, to make repairs to two locations that were damaged by two crashes over the past two years. In one crash, a truck caught fire and the heat of the fire damaged the bridge deck. In the other crash involving a truck, the parapet (i.e., bridge wall) was struck and damaged. These incidents occurred while a $9.3-million rehabilitation project was underway with Swank Associated Companies, Inc. of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, as the contractor. The contractor returns to the bridge on Monday evening at 7 p.m. to make the repairs. For eastbound motorists on Route 30 crossing the bridge, this means that the eastbound direction will be restricted to a single lane (the left lane) for about 72 hours – from Monday evening at 7 p.m. to roughly 7 p.m. on Thursday. Eastbound motorists should expect to encounter traffic congestion and back-ups during the heavy commuting hours. Motorists are advised to allow additional time in their travel plans or seek alternate routes in order to avoid delays.” – PennDot News Release
