Monday night’s borough council meeting produced a few “warm and fuzzies” or happy face moments.

One of them was when the mayor injected a question / suggestion that he hoped the borough would send “thank you” letters to the candidates for borough manager who were interviewed, but not selected. He said that this polite act is being forgotten in today’s business place. The council resoundingly agreed.
Bravo, mayor and councillors!
The other occurred when the councillors got to this agenda item:
A motion was made to make a $100 donation to the “Hands Across the Street” project. There was discussion because some councillors did not have a complete understanding of the program. Solicitor Robert L. Pfannebecker stated that he knew of the program and that his law firm has made a contribution, too. Following further discussion, the councillors fully agreed that increasing the contribution to $500 was in order because Columbia ought to help the “Hands Across the Street” program feed Columbia’s children.
Bravo, solicitor, councillors and mayor!
If you would like to follow the borough’s lead, you can make your own contribution to this worthwhile initiative.
“HANDS ACROSS THE STREET (HAS).
“HAS is the umbrella non-profit organization that secures funding and provides oversight to the outreach ministries of Columbia Presbyterian.
“HAS also provides resources and support to other community programs, such as the Columbia Day Shelter, and the newly formed Summer Food Service Program in Columbia.
