  • Policing note: This small article appears in today’s Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era: “A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted this weekend at an undisclosed location in Lancaster County, officials said.” At the Monday evening Columbia borough council meeting, the mayor said Columbia’s police department has been working in concert with the Pennsylvania State Police to crack down on aggressive drivers along the part of  Route 30 within the borough’s border.
  • POLICE LOG:MARIETTA: Morgan Leig Gochnauer, 21, of 798 Hempfield Hill Road, Columbia, was charged Friday related to a traffic stop Jan. 13 at East Front and South Bank streets. – COLUMBIA: Andrew James Billett, 27, of Columbia, was charged with harassment and public drunkenness April 2 after an incident at his home. – MARIETTA: James D. Leonard, 30, of 17 W. Market St., Marietta, was charged Monday after a domestic dispute at his home Sunday when he allegedly struck a woman in the face and also choked her.” – Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era
  • Rutter’s Farm Stores recently broke ground on a new store in Mountville, the second Rutter’s location in Lancaster County and the 58th store for the York-based convenience store chain. The 6,280-square-foot convenience store, which is expected to open in late June, will be located at Hempland Road and College Avenue. The store, which will be open 24 hours daily, will include an espresso bar, Rutter’s milk and dairy products, 12 gas fueling spaces and five high-speed truck diesel fueling spots.
