- True to the trough – Back in 2011, Columbia news, views & reviews opined, “Katie True pushes into the trough action by taking a $105,000 political appoint after she retired to “spend more time with family and personal interests.” Guess those personal interests include fattening her bankroll from the public largess.” Guess what, she’s pushed her way into the deeper part of the trough as she’ll now receive a public dole of $145K annually as the governor’s secretary of legislative affairs. – Harrisburg Patriot-News [See … a life of public welfare is good … for some people.]
- At Monday’s council meeting, the council voted to seek open bids from competitive telecommunications towers operators for the 1020 Blunston Street property. One company has made an offer to lease the property to erect a tower. Keeping all irons in the fire, council also consented to leaving the property with the Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) bidders, just in case the folks there can come up with something better. Incidentally, there’s a legal notice in the daily newspaper about a telecommunication tower operator that wants to increase its tower height and footprint on property it’s leased in Manheim Township.
