Fourth Friday in Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville

The Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce invites you to Fourth Friday in Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville on Friday, September 27.

Join us for an arts experience and more between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00 pm.  This month begins a two month experience where art feeds not only the soul but the stomach.  Jonal Gallery invites you to contribute your artistic talent to create group masterpieces.  The gallery, located at 653 Locust Street in Columbia, will begin with blank canvases on the walls and a selection of brushes and color palettes.  Freely express yourself or view the works in progress. Come back in October when the creations will be sold by silent auction.  All funds raised will benefit the Columbia Food Bank.

Hector Ortega, a potter from Mexico makes a return visit to Weavings, Ink., Wrightsville.  Hector is part of a community of over 300 potters in Mata Ortiz, Mexico who have recreated, from pottery shards, the ancient clay body and decorations of their ancestors.  Along with Mr. Ortega, the artists at Weavings, Ink. will display their works in pen and ink and weaving.

Check out Susquehanna Center for the Creative Arts, Columbia, where work will be shown by the Art Department Faculty and Staff from the Harrisburg Area Community College.  Take a moment to schedule your own glass blowing experience at SCCA’s Through the Fire Glass Studio.

Find original flavors of popcorn at Half Nuts Popcorn Co, Wrightsville, which participates from 5pm to dark.  Pick up some Asher Chocolates and browse the antiques and unique items at Watermelon Rind, Columbia.  Experience a downtown green grocer at Keagy’s Produce.

During your visit, stop for a bite to eat or a hot drink at one of the local restaurants and eateries, including but not limited to: Bully’s Restaurant and Pub, Hinkle’s, Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen, Burning Bridge Tavern, and Trin’s Beans.  For more information on events and activities, visit www.PaRivertowns.com and click on the “Fourth Friday in Columbia, Marietta & Wrightsville” tab or call 717.684.5249.
