- Yesterday’s York Daily Record editorial is interesting. Caterpillar Tractor has announced it’s going to keep the shell of its former presence in York. Good news, you think. Until we read the editorial that identified that the reason Cat’s “staying” is that the company got paid to stay. Yep, Cat’s a “corporate welfare case.” The company’s getting grants and state funded largess to stay put … even though the company produces no new jobs. There always seems to be resounding “bitching” about welfare and handouts for people, there’s little when corporations get handouts. Especially when there are no jobs created. Read the editorial!
