And all of a sudden, it’s October

Though yesterday seemed like a pleasant summer day, the reality is: it’s October. And while several mid-western states are dealing with blizzard conditions, here in the Columbia area, it was t-shirt and shorts time for Saturday’s “Bridge Bust” and Sunday’s FunFest.

A late Sunday afternoon visit to the River Park found only a few people savoring the Park. Since it’s after Labor Day, single vehicles not towing trailers are allowed to park in the “boaters’ parking spots.

The piers are “stowed away for winter.”

And the Water Company’ refurb project continues; probably paid for by the intended rate increase revenue stream.

Trailhead visitor’s Building project at the River Park. An August 15, 2013 article in the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era stated, “The $1.9 million project would serve as a visitors hub and southern terminus of the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail. The building would have an information desk, meeting room, bathrooms and a deck. There would also be additional parking.” The construction of the structure is in progress.
