CONSTRUCTION BEGINS AT RIVER PARK

“Construction on the Park & Trail Services Building at River Park has begun. Completion of the building will depend on the winter weather but is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2014. The building will consist of three pods; one will contain restrooms, another will be a general purpose and information center, and the third will consist of a large deck with a roof. Completion of the building will mark a ten year multi-phase project to expand and revitalize the River Park and to act as trailhead for the Northwest Lancaster County Trail. The trail will run from Columbia to Falmouth in Conoy Township. Columbia’s portion of the trail will be completed with the relocation of Pa Route 441, slated for construction in 2014. The building will contain camera surveillance equipment and will be locked and opened each day by Police Department Personnel. The building will be available for community functions and events and possibly private gatherings.
