If you google, Columbia Police Department facebook, this is what you’ll get: out-of-date information.
You’ve already seen what you get if you key in West Hempfield Township police facebook or Manheim police facebook or northwest regional police facebook.
Curiously, we took a call earlier today letting us know the Columbia Police Department does have a facebook page! BUT … you have to be registered with facebook to see the page. AND we’re told you have to “friend request” them (the department); once you’re accepted by the department censor (evidently) you will be able to see the updates.
Here are a few photos from that “Website”:
There’s a real difference in how these public safety organizations communicate. The ones listed above really use social media to communicate information to citizens and the public. We could find no “posturing photos” at their Websites. On the other hand, we found little public safety communication at the “non-public Columbia Police Department site.”
Really, how transparent is that? Again … isn’t it the penultimate in disdain and contempt for the citizens and the public?
After looking at the site, it’s not a whole lot better than the out-of-date site.
