Jonal Gallery/Alverta Arts Shop – 653 Locust Street, Columbia recently presented a check to The Columbia Food Bank for $700.00. The check was the result of a fund raiser exhibit held at the gallery called “U.B. Artist – An Interactive Exhibit.”
The “exhibit” started with blank canvases, acrylic paints in tubes, artist palettes and supplies donated byJonal Gallery/Alverta Arts Shop. Everyone was invited into the “artist studio” created within Jonal to paint. For a month, “artists” age 7 to 70 came and painted. Some did a little, some did a lot; everyone did something to create the U.B. Artist “masterpieces.”
A well-attended silent auction was held, as bidders outbid one another to get the resulting pieces. In the end $700.00 was raised for a worthwhile cause.
The check was present to Danielle Peters, the Columbia Food Bank Director, by John Novak and Dale Weibley, proprietors of Jonal Gallery/Alverta Arts Shop, just in time for helping those who help others during this holiday season and throughout the year.
The Columbia Food Bank serves those in need in the Columbia and Mountville area.
