Mayor’s caution about cold weather & Beury is reelected as council president

MAYORS CONCERN

At tonight’s borough council reorganization meeting, the mayor expressed his concern for citizens who may be impacted by the extreme cold weather that’s coming through the area tonight. He advised everyone in attendance at the meeting to make sure that all borough residents know that they can call the borough offices or the police department if the are in need of warm shelter or in need of emergency assistance throughout the extreme cold.

The borough number is 717.684.2467. Though there is an emergency management coordinator for the borough, there is no emergency number at the Website.

Middletown Borough’s Emergency Management Agency ordered the (fire) station prepare to assist residents suffering from broken water pipes or any other incident that causes a loss of heat to their home during the cold front. Residents needing shelter are asked to contact Tom Foreman, the borough’s emergency management coordinator, at 717-810-7569 to make arrangements for shelter.” – Harrisburg Patriot-News

In other matters at tonight’s meeting, Michael Beury was re-elected as the council president and Barry Ford was elected as the vice president. Kelly Murphy was elected president pro tem; “in the absence of the President and the Vice President, the Borough Council shall elect a President Pro Tem, who shall have all the powers of the President.”
