on becoming a believer

So, among the gifts at Christmas this year was a copy of the Blum’s Farmer’s and Planter’s Almanac. On the cover, it states “Weather Forecast for 16 months.” This is the first Almanac we’ve looked into in several decades, and we’ve never really thought much of the weather claims made. Until this year.

This almanac is surprisingly on target at least for the first month of 2014.

almanac

Check this out:

January 12 – 15: Frigid air follows (a winter storm) in its wake from Canada with a significant freeze into the region even across FL.

20 – 23: Clearing, drier and cold.

24 – 27: Colder temperatures move in.

February 1 – 3: Northeast storm brings rain and snow, with strong gusty winds.

4 – 7: A brief quiet spell in between storms, but unsettled weather returns to the Northeast by the 7th.

8 – 11: A snowstorm sweeps east across Great Lakes into New England; a wintry mix for the mid-Atlantic region.

And it continues with a cold, wet spring into the latter part of May.

Who knew? Wonder if the dumass groundhog reads this almanac.
