today’s news and information gleanings from here and there!

Quote for today“ … unlike 2 other elected officials, I do not like to abuse my power as an elected official” – From the Facebook page of a Columbia elected public servant and shared with Columbia news, views & reviews by a reader. Wonder who the “2 other elected officials” are? Wonder how they’re abusing their “power?” Wonder what “power” a local elected public servant has anyway? And, though this elected public servant may not like to “abuse” power, wonder if he or she has or sometimes does?

  • Jack Brubaker’s column in today’s Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era responds to a reader question about the old Chinese-themed structure known as the Far East Kennels. He cites Kerry Glenn who provides insight into the structure shown above; a 1967-photo of the entrance is shown at the end of this column.
