A PROCLAMATION
STATE OF EMERGENCY
A “STATE OF EMERGENCY” is being declared in the Borough of Columbia beginning at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 5, 2014. This state of emergency is due to power outages in parts of the borough, and the threat of freezing temperatures and strong winds overnight.
The recent ice storm has left many residents without power and damage to homes because of fallen trees coated with ice and snow. Utility companies are working to restore power and the Public Works Department is working to remove snow and ice from Borough Streets. Downed trees and limbs falling on Borough streets will also be removed.
With the State of Emergency being declared, the Columbia Borough Emergency Management Team will be activating shelters in each of the three Borough Fire Companies. The Fire Companies are:
Columbia #1 Fire Company, located on Front Street South of Locust Street
Susquehanna Fire Company, located at 10th & Manor Street
Columbia Consolidated Fire Company, located at 10th & Mifflin Street
Residents needing emergency shelter are asked to report to one of these Fire Companies for assistance. Anyone not able to travel is asked to contact Columbia Borough Police Department for assistance. (717) 684-7735 or (717) 684-2120
Proclaimed this 5th day of February 2014
Leo S. Lutz, Mayor
Borough of Columbia
