The Rose/Ferrara duo returns to The SEED this week following their successful appearances at the LAUNCH Festival here in Lancaster.
They will perform sets at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Saturday May 3, 2014 at The Seed, 52 North Queen Street in downtown Lancaster. The performance is free with goodwill offerings accepted. For further information eclecticduopa.brownpapertickets.com or call 215-856-4807.
Rose and Ferrara perform a unique blend of original instrumental music weaving Native American and classical influences with Latin American and African rhythms and Scots Irish, American Folk and Flamenco flourishes. Rose also performs New Age flute and double flute solos and Ferrara from his classical repertoire as well as his selection of garageband instrumentals arranged for classical guitar.
The group came out of the Launch Festival holding a recording contract with Spirit Wind records and newly designated in the Indie-classical category by the festival management. Rose was previously undercontract with Spirit Wind as a soloist. The company had expressed an interest in the duo but CEO Donald Blackfox had not heard them perform live. Blackfox chose the festival, which comes with a certain amount of pressure as a test of the duo’s mettle.
As far as the genre classification Ferrara responds thisway: “I’ve had groups, good groups, really good groups fail because they could fit in no category. We don’t write music to fit in a category but the reality is we will fail without the ability to present ourselves under a pre-existing market designation.”
In June of 2014 the Rose/Ferrara duo will embark upon a tour which will take them to Georgia, North Carolina and Alabama climaxing with an appearance on the prestigious stage of the World Flute Society i n Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In addition, they are in negotiations for performances in Colorado, Indiana,Ohio and Florida.
