The Columbia Lions Club, Rivertownes PA USA and the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center have teamed up to continue a Columbia tradition: a June car show. Visit downtown Columbia on June 21, 2014, to enjoy the Thunder on the River Car Show. The car show will run from 10 am to 3 pm.

In 2005, Barry Doutrich, owner of Doutrich Auto Repair, founded the Cruisin’ Columbia Car Show in downtown Columbia as part of Columbia’s Old home Week. Over the years, that car show grew to include more than 400 cars and motorcycles and became an annual tradition for local residents and visitors alike. A few months after the 9^th annual car show in 2013, Barry passed away after a courageous battle with ALS. Upon his death, Barry requested that the Cruisin’ Columbia name be retired and that any future car show not be named in his memory. Consistent with his wishes, the three non-profit community organizations decided to continue the event in 2014 under a new name: Thunder on the River Car Show.

The efforts of the three coordinating organizations gained widespread support from community businesses. Sponsorships from Chickies Rock Moose Lodge, Columbia Fraternal Association, Elite Energy, Columbia-Middletown Elks, Ship-Rite, and Turkey Hill Experience laid the groundwork for the show. Additional sponsorships from American Legion Post 372, Chapman Ford, ECM Automotive, Foresters of America, Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority, Susquehanna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Union Community Bank put the show on firm financial footing.

A large array of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, muscle cars, antique cars, trucks and hot rods will be on display on Locust Street. Enjoy these vehicles while listening to music from the ‘50s and ‘60s. Vehicle registration is available through the morning of the show.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Columbia Food Bank, Columbia police initiatives, ALS Association to support the fight against Lou Gehrig ’s disease, and the three coordinating organizations.
