“Biking Across America to Feed the World”

Tony Fritz is riding 1,500 miles to raise money in support of feeding the hungry across the world. He will start his ride in Plano, Texas on Monday, June 30, and will be traveling through Columbia, PA. He will finish his ride in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania in the beginning of August.

Fritz is a 67-year-old man from Lancaster, PA. A retired math teacher, Fritz now works for Global Aid Network® (GAiN®) at their distribution center in Mount Joy, PA. GAiN expresses the love of Jesus Christ in the toughest places by relieving suffering and restoring dignity.

GAIN

GAiN works in 27 countries spanning from Central America to Africa, the Middle East to Central Asia. Throughout the year they host two packing events, which bring together thousands of volunteers to help pack aid like clothing, medical supplies, seeds and food. Last year alone GAiN packed and shipped 9,986,819 meals of rice and beans. The funds Tony raises on this trip will contribute to exceeding that amount in 2014.

After retiring from teaching in 1993, Fritz started volunteering at GAiN full-time. Since 2006 he has served as the Food Process Manager.

When asked why he decided to do this long bike ride, Fritz answered, “Why not? But I didn’t want to just ride; I wanted to make the bike trip really meaningful and decided to use this as an opportunity to also raise funds for GAiN’s Food Program.”

Fritz understands first hand the complexities of world hunger. He has traveled to multiple countries around the world to distribute humanitarian aid.

“World hunger is a problem that should be solved. No one should go hungry,” said Fritz. “We may not be able to cure world hunger… but we can make a difference in one person’s life.”
