According to the Borough Website: “The first phase will be work between 9th St. and 11th/Kinderhook Rd. This work will include drainage improvements, widening, curb and pavement repair. The work will be approximately 3 weeks. A detour will be in place closing this portion of Ironville Pike to through traffic during this time. The intersection of Kinderhook Road will be worked under a flagging operation and be open to traffic at all times.
“Upon completion of the above, work will commence between 11th and 13th Sts. This work will also include drainage improvements, curb and reconstruction. This work will be approximately 3 weeks also. A detour will be put in place closing this portion of Ironville Pike to through traffic.
“Work will then be done between 13th St and Columbia Borough line. This work will include drainage improvements, widening, curb and trench repair. This work will be approximately 3 weeks. A detour will be put in place closing this portion of Ironville Pike to through traffic.
“The final work will include the placement of sidewalk, paving and final grading along the entire portion of the project. This work will be completed under a flagging operation.”
- “Most workers today are no better off than they were thirty years ago, adjusted for inflation. Most are less economically secure.” That’s what Robert Reich says in this column.
- The controversy about the structure in progress on 13th Street focus on codes and codes interpretation. One of the recent “best actions” by the Borough is the reinstatement of e-codes at the Borough Website. Codification of what happens, what will happen and how to respond to actions. “When you are dealing with staff in a business or organization, keep in mind that if it’s not written down, then it didn’t happen. As far as the law and regulation is concerned, you must document your actions.”
- This is often seen during borough council meetings as councilors and others “remember” stuff that may or may not have happened. That “remembering” is what written minutes (Minutes are “the official written record of a meeting.) are all about. The recording, or chronicling, of events, statements, etc. removes the inaccuracies of “I remember, etc.”
