“Harrisburg City Council opened session with a first on Tuesday night – a Hindu invocation.

“Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society on Hinduism, asked to open the session as part of his ongoing circuit to municipal and other government meetings to spread awareness of Hinduism. Recently, he has also offered the opening prayer in Chambersburg and Martinsburg, WVa.

“Hindu is the world’s third-largest religion, celebrated by 1 billion people, Zed said before the session.”
