Expensive refurbishment? Tax-exempt entity?
The Columbia Water Company began in 1823. As a Pennsylvania business corporation, it pays no taxes on the property at 20 Walnut Street. What is curious, the County’s property ownership Website shows the two listings for 220 Locust Street – one says the property is taxable; the other says it’s tax exempt.
Ever wonder whether the nearly $3 million dollar refurbishment project you see on the structures between the Columbia Crossings and the river cabins makes “in lieu of” contributions for borough services? Or the other properties, for that matter?
This property with greater worth is listed as taxable, though it could easily be granted EXEMPT status.
