Council Meeting of the Whole agenda
FROM MONDAY NIGHT’S MEETING – What’s in a logo?
There was a bunch of clatter about logos at last night’s meeting. Perhaps a review of what a logo is might be in order.
“A logo is the graphic symbol that represents a person, company or organization.” – visiblelogic.com
You might think of it as a symbol that’s a part of your brand … not unlike your signature, really.
It’s not uncommon for organizations to invest a good deal of time, talent and money to get the right logo – and then the smart organizations will register their logos so that imitators cannot easily steal their logo.
At the meeting someone brought up the logo using the words, “Buy fresh, buy local.” Someone seated at the U-shaped table in front of the room attributed the logo to the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. Sorry, there, sheriff, the Chamber touts the “Buy Local” logo.
The Pennsylvania Buy Fresh Buy Local® logo belongs to the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture. Using the logo without consent is unethical and just wrong.
The Columbia Market House is listed at the Pennsylvania Buy Fresh Buy Local® Website.
