Art @ Hinkle’s (200 Block of Locust Street) new to the area; in collaboration with Lancaster Creative Factory, will be opening up their doors for information and a small display of artwork. Kevin Lehman will be there for questions and answers.
Garth Gallery and Framing Shop – (South 2nd Street) will have returning artist Julie Yontz-Rupp displaying her beautiful pieces of artwork; along with Thom Kulp known in the Lancaster County Area for his mixed media with acrylics. This show will be on display until November 20th.
Susquehanna Center for the Creative Arts (SCCA) – (200 Block of Locust Street) is exploring the interpretations of a show called “Landscape” featuring artwork from Arnold, Akre, Darling, Delaurentis, Friedly, Fuhrman, Galligan, Gallo, Giblin, Hochendoner, Lard, Leidich, Margolis, Morgan, Patierno, Richards, Ross, Spangler, Strickler, and Wissler. This show will be on display until November 20th.
Through the Fire – (400 Block of Locust Street), will be showing a variety of portraitures from Todd Geiger. In addition; Jaye Crist will be presenting his photographs and ceramic objects for this month’s artist’s reception. Also, catch on display creative artwork by Janette Toth-Musser and Jerry King Musser from their repertoire.
Weavings, Ink – (Wrightsville) is continuing their show “Magic of the Mundane”. A magical, whimsical, surreal and sometimes scary group exhibit featuring the work of nine artists: Richard Chandler Hoff, graphite; Robert Hammer, pen and ink, Nick Pastal, paintings, Robert Oughton, pen and ink, Mariah Hertz, mixed media, George Kurzik, photographs, Dan Walczyk, photo montage, Shawn Young, digital paintings, and Phyllis Koster, fiber. A Special Halloween event “Invasion of the Octoberflies” will be held in the barn from 5-8 pm. If you thought the Mayflies in Wrightsville this spring were bad, take a look at the Octoberflies that are drawn to the dark energy of this former slaughterhouse, the Barn at Weavings, Ink. They take the magical energy found in the barn and transform themselves into fantastic looking flying creatures, masquerading themselves into all manner of flies: horse flies, damsel flies, and other strange combinations. “Fly” trading cards will be given to attendees if they dare to help remove the infestation of Octoberflies from the Barn. They can also view the strange art on the walls in the Barn and in the “Magic of the Mundane” currently hanging in the main gallery. Seasonal refreshments will be served. Family friendly scariness!

Columbia Historic Preservation Society is continuing their Lloyd Mifflin exhibition, which runs all year long. Take an unforgettable evening for the “Ghosts of Columbia” walking tour. Tours will be available on Fridays and Saturdays in October and November, please call for reservations. In collaboration with Rick Fisher; “Fright Night” will be presented on Saturday, October 31st from 7pm to 10pm. Historic Salem is welcoming Juliana Schnee at 8pm on Walnut Street Columbia. Juliana is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Her song “Expectations” was included on WJTL’s Kids Cookie Break 4 CD in September 2012. Her first album, Dance in the Rain, released in December 2012. This self-taught pianist has competed nationally several times for voice and original song, and has won various scholarships and prizes over the years. She co-wrote her latest single “Diamonds” with nationally-known artist, Jimmy Needham, which is available on ITunes.
Mt. Bethel Cemetery is hosting their Cemetery Classic, “A Haunted Lantern Tour” presented by The Ghosts of -Columbia. St. Paul Episcopal Church is offering a Grab n’ Go Lunch in their courtyard from 11am to 1pm. Lunch includes a meat sandwich, beverage, and bagged chips. Take out is available and orders can be called in at 717-684-8496. Seating will be available in the courtyard, parish hall will be open if raining. Come back at 6:30pm for a “Harvest Home” event held in the courtyard and the church. Painting pumpkins will be offered for the kids and kids at heart or bring a painted pumpkin; after which, they will be voted on for the best painted pumpkin. “Dance Mosaic” will presenting a liturgical dance for the evening, starting at 7pm.
