today’s news and information gleanings from here and there!
Quote for today … IN STEELTON – Better late than never – you decide. “Steelton residents should have received a letter Monday telling them of yet another borough water violation Sept. 16.” – PennLive
Another quote: ” If Treasury says no (to the Erie School District’s request to borrow funds in advance), that means the state (and, by extension, Wolf) would prefer to fund the General Assembly and not Pennsylvania school kids, who are now going to class every day in districts that are rapidly running out of cash.” – PennLive
- The “closed ranks” mindset seemingly prevalent among law enforcement is real according to numerous sources as this one: “Thus they keep close ranks for protection and security,” say the authors of the textbook, Introduction to Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. In dangerous, volatile and life-threatening environments, all professions favor the close ranks : fire fighters; warriors; gang members, etc. Extending the active mode of force protection to “lack of transparency” in the administrative role, though, harms the credibility of law enforcement. Citizens in free societies have a need to know, a right to know, about happenings within the circle: for instance, the release of information concerning traffic accidents, crashed police cars, staffing issues, etc.
These two Public Source articles speak to that.
