Here it comes: the big day of giving – Friday, November 20, 2015!

“On that day, every dollar donated will be stretched by at least $300,000 from the Lancaster County Community Foundation, our presenting sponsors Rodgers & Associates and other generous supporters. Additional prizes of $50,000 will be awarded to the causes you care about!”

Here’s this year’s list of organizations eligible for your contributions; only a few from Columbia are listed. It’s tough to figure why so few of the “not-for-profits” in the borough have signed on for this marvelous funding opportunity.

The rules are straightforward: “All organizations participating in the Extraordinary Give serve residents of Lancaster County, are registered as 501(c)(3) with the Bureau of Charitable Organizations and have a current audit or independent financial review. Organizations must have completed an application process by October 1, 2015 to participate.”
