And why not; the penalties certainly are not severe. Particularly if you’re a middle-aged white woman who steals from folks who trust you. You get your hands slapped and you get probation. You never get to see then inside of a jail.

Today, Lancaster Online reports: “The former treasurer of the Donegal Intermediate School Parent-Teacher Organization is accused of stealing more than $50,000 from the organization over 1 1/2 years.”

Next we’ll have people stealing from their tree-trimming employers or their fire companies.

Oh, yeah, that’s already happened and they’re not in jail either.
