OLA choirs perform at state capitol building

The Pennsylvania Music Education Association celebrates “March- Music In Our Schools Month”.   For this special occasion the Angel Choir and Concert Choir of Our Lady Of The Angels School, Columbia, Pa.. under the direction of Mrs. Jaye Grochowski, music teacher,  performed a lunch  time concert on the steps of the Rotunda in our States Capitol.

The concert was opened with “God Bless America”, “The World Is A Rainbow”. The students performed for fifty minutes singing some of their favorite choral pieces, one of which was  “I Love Chocolate” a token thanks to Hershey Chocolate.  Also included in the program was “Hand Me Down My Silver Trumpet Lord”   Many people were there to listen to the performance.   Family members also came to the Rotunda.   The Honorable Senator Michael Brubaker  surprised the group  with a visit during their performance.   He spoke with the group and asked them many questions.   He stayed for the entire performance.   The group closed their performance with a special “Ave Maria” and “Hallelujah Chorus” a musical arrangement for youth choirs.  Senator Brubaker invited the students to a personal  tour of the Senate Seat.  It was truly and exciting day for all.
