today’s news … Thursday, July 7

today’s news and information gleanings from here and there! Today’s Weather!   Today in History!

  • The problem is you damn old people … it’s not giving money to bankers, Wall Streeters, hedge-funders, car companies, military contractors, wars, “earmarks junkies”, greedy elected “public servants”, oil companies and other needy groups. “In debt talks, Obama offers Social Security cuts” (SOURCE: Washington Post)
  • Rubber stamp time! Here are the food serving establishment inspection reports for inspections conducted during the month of June 2011 in the borough of Columbia by the Columbia codes officer. The Shack – Molly B’s
  • Small minded politics strike again – or one door closes, another opens. (Former Columbia Borough public services manager) Ron Miller resigns. But as you read the article, notice that 70 citizens attended the municipal meeting. Keep this in mind as you notice that fewer than a handful of citizens (at many meetings only one or two citizens are present) attend Columbia Borough council and committee meetings. In a conversation with a councilor following a borough committee meeting last night, we agreed it is time for citizens to step up and “citicize.” Heck, we notice that the candidates for the November election of borough councilor offices do not attend the meetings either. (SOURCE: York Daily Record

  1. Brian, i ate at the Shack and have to question some of the items that were passed. First off, food was good. But B-2 — employee had no hat or hairnet and not wearing gloves. His kitchen was grill and operated using a generator, so I have to question the level of keeping things cold and frsh. C-6 and C-8 is questionable too along with C-13. There is an eating area of plastic tables and if there hot water available in a port-a-pot, unless you count the Dairy Queen next door.

  2. If you want to know who TRULY runs this town know this. Word is, within the past 10 days, the mayor of Columbia tracked down Ron Miller and begged him to come back. This was NOT initiated by Columbia Borough Council. So if Ron mysteriously ends up back in Columbia, it proves once and for all that Leo controls this council.
