23rd annual Bridge Bust happens on Saturday

The Route 462 Veterans Memorial Bridge connecting Columbia to Wrightsville will be the site of the SVCC’s 23rd Annual Bridge Bust on Saturday, October 1, 2011. The Bridge Bust is sponsored by Lancaster General Health/Columbia Outpatient Center.  Hours are 8 AM to 4 PM rain or shine.

300 vendors (92 new) are scheduled to participate in this year’s sold-out event.  Commercial food vendors will offer crowd pleasing fare such as butterfly fries, blooming onions, crepes, burritos, wraps, crab cakes, pit beef and pulled pork.  Plenty of other food & drink items await your taste buds. Individual vendors will offer items such as crafts, artwork, antiques – ranging from home or country décor to garden or specialty food items, with a wide variety of products available beyond that. Local nonprofit organizations will be on hand to raise awareness of their organizations and to raise money for their causes.  Other sponsors of this event include Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority and St. John’s Herr Estate.

Live entertainment by Sneakers the Clown and “Love of Jazz” will be featured on the bridge throughout the day.  This entertainment is brought to you through the sponsorship of Workman Funeral Homes, Frank Sahd Salvage Center, First National Bank Museum, and River Valley Disposal.   Local sister radio stations Classic Rock 92.7 and 101 The Rose are exclusive radio sponsors for this event.  Look (and listen) for the stations which will be located at either end of the bridge.

The Bridge Bust features free parking and shuttle service from Glatfelter Field (located at Rt. 462 and 13th St.) in Columbia and Eastern High School (Cool Creek Rd.) in Wrightsville.   Patrons who wish to cross the bridge in only one direction may do so by pre-planning use of the various shuttles.  For details, visit the SVCC website: http://www.PaRivetowns.com. Donations will be accepted for this service.

Admission to the Bridge Bust is $2 for adults.  Children 13 and under free.  Please remember that absolutely no pets, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, or scooters are permitted on the bridge.  The Bridge Bust will be held rain or shine.  All proceeds will benefit the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.
