Quote for today… “Evil (ignorance) is like a shadow – it has no real substance of its own, it is simply a lack of light. You cannot cause a shadow to disappear by trying to fight it, stamp on it, by railing against it, or any other form of emotional or physical resistance. In order to cause a shadow to disappear, you must shine light on it.” – Shakti Gawain

- At last night’s Council’s Market Committee meeting (click here for the agenda), the focus continued to be on facilitating the transfer of operation of the Market House from the municipality to the formulative Market House Trust. Chairperson Kelly Murphy and committee member Mary Wickenheiser were the only committee members present; borough manager Norm Meiskey and Market standholder representative, Evelyn Baer, attended too. Market House manager Carmen Swinehart verbalized her monthly report and briefed those in attendance about the October 27 “open house.”. All the members of the Market House Trust attended as well as Ned Somerville, who gave a report on the initiatives of poster art and music jams in the Market House. No citizens were in attendance.
- Following the adjournment of the Market House committee, the Market House Trust Board held their monthly meeting. This meeting lasted just over two hours; the enthusiasm, professionalism, fervor and candor exhibited during the meeting of the Market House Trust Board was refreshing to watch. This spirited and interested group of citizens is concentrating their efforts to grapple with the very real process of shepherding the Market House towards the intended direction of private sector management.
- There was only one restaurant and food serving establishment inspection done by the Borough’s inspection process during the month of September; click here to see it.
