Quote for today… “There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on
the feelings, as now in October.” – Nathaniel Hawthorne
- PHOOEY! Yesterday’s front pages tell the story!
- Here are the results of the most recent inspections of food serving establishments in York County from the York Dispatch. Here is a listing of inspections for Lancaster County from the Lancaster Sunday News and (uh-oh) the link to the “fuller database of inspections” that appeared at the LancasterOnline Website has gone astray! All facilities in Lancaster and York counties, except those in Columbia, are listed at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Website.
- Know what happens in Columbia and how it impacts you … plan to attend the monthly Council meeting tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm. See all the Borough’s committee and board meetings.
- In Lancaster, they cite slum landlords for violations. Pay attention that, there too, many of those cited do not live in the city. There’s even an owner with a Columbia address (actually in West Hempfield Township) on the list. Maybe there’s a pattern? Maybe slum landlords slither into communities where they see profit opportunity and the potential to avoid codes? Good job, Lancaster.
- Isn’t this what Egypt’s Mubarak, Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad and Libya’s Gaddafi were accused of doing … curbing freedom to question, dissent and demonstrate? “Bloomberg tells Occupy Wall Street protesters to lay off banks” – politico.com
- Gulp! “Residents invited to check out Red Lion field’s $1.9 million overhaul” – York Dispatch
- Chip Smedley’s column in the Sunday News deals tends to questions about River Road and the old Columbia Drive In.
