Looks like the gas price holiday is over; prices are heading back higher. That’s even more true in the part of town near the bridges. As we drove across town last night we took notes on the prices of gas. Curiously, there’s a sizable gap from one side of town to the other. Take a look at the differences in regular gas prices.
- Turkey Hill Experience convenience store … $3.499 a gallon
- Turkey Hill on Chestnut Street between Third & fourth Streets … $3.499 a gallon
- Sunoco and Exxon Stations on the east side of town across from Anvil … $3.359 a gallon
- Hess’s in West Hempfield Township by the McDonald’s … $3.369 a gallon
- Turkey Hill at 462 and Prospect Road … $3.399 a gallon
What’s the deal with the huge differences – as much as 4% – from one side of town to the other? Can someone shed some light on this?
OK … so these items are maybe only loosely related. This press release, Fine Dining near Columbia, Pennsylvania, just came across our horizon yesterday afternoon, but it’s so effusive and complimentary that we had to give it prominence. It begins:
“Visitors have flocked to Pennsylvania’s Columbia Market House since its construction in 1869. The market in Columbia, which is roughly 30 miles southeast of Harrisburg, hosts a weekly Farmer’s Market that allows guests to purchase locally grown produce and homemade breads and baked treats. Also in the area are restaurants that serve homemade meals with seasonal, locally grown ingredients and a fine-dining flair.”
How’s that for an opening on the USA Today Travel Tips for a fine dining excursion? The release features closer looks at Bully’s Restaurant and Pub; The Railroad House and Josephine’s in Marietta; the John Wright Restaurant in Wrightsville and Symposium in Centerville.
… and that leads into …
